3D puff embroidery uses a layer of foam underlay placed on the garment before the top stitches are applied. The foam is stitched over completely, pushing the top stitches upward and creating a bold three-dimensional raised effect.
The foam thickness is selected based on your application. Cap panel depth, garment fabric weight, and design element size all affect the correct foam selection. We select from 2mm, 3mm, and 5mm foam thicknesses.
Not all designs suit puff. Simple bold shapes, large letters, and geometric logos work well. Fine detail and very small elements do not. The foam coverage makes fine lines appear blurry. We advise on suitability when relevant.
